Description
This position supports General Accounting and performs accounting/financial functions including general ledger maintenance, financial analysis, participating in audits and various other accounting tasks consistent with department objectives. This position requires understanding of overall business organization and functions.
Accountabilities
· Secures relevant information and identifies key issues that are directly related to problem assessment
· Prepares and analyzes schedules, reports or journal entries with understanding of impact of actions and analysis to overall financials
· Engages in basic research from multiple sources of information for purpose of identifying cause and effect relationships.
· Provides financial reporting (e.g. financial statements and management reporting) to meet customer expectations and deadline
· Identifies problem areas when reviewing information, understands patterns, trends or missing pieces, noticing when a current situation is similar to a past situation and identifies the similarities, and questions inconsistency in financial data elements
· Partners with external and internal auditors to provide necessary supporting documentation for testing
· Performs general ledger account reconciliations, related accruals and journal entries
· Completes tasks to meet monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines
· Assists with preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP and IFRS principals and standards
· Processes monthly reconciliations/analyses and monthly closing procedures according to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and internal controls
· Partners with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance
· Performs analysis and prepares reports as requested by leadership and functional areas
· Performs valuations of intangibles
· Participates in coordination and testing of upgrades of financial systems
· Partners with offshore team to ensure that financial activities are completed by deadlines
· Provides consistent high-level customer service to customers
· Performs special projects as requested
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Prefer undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance with 0 - 3 years relevant accounting experience; individuals without a degree must demonstrate equivalent abilities and skills
· Requires basic understanding of generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP) and international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
· Requires intermediate skills with MS Office (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word, Access & PowerPoint) including familiarity with financial/accounting systems; prefer experience with PeopleSoft
· Requires demonstrated attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills to identify problem areas when reviewing numeric information, to see patterns, trends or missing pieces, identify the similarities in current/past scenarios, and question inconsistencies to determine proper resolution
· Requires intermediate verbal and written communication skills to conduct tasks via the telephone, through e-mails and various written documents
· Requires strong teamwork and cooperation abilities to be successful
